The flesh tone and the overall mature look are gone. As someone who has used the Toolset, they used a Qunari skin tone as a kind of “under layer” to give him the dark circles under his eyes. We’ll keep in mind that monitors vary, but while his eyes are well done, he’s lost some of the coloration he had in the game.
His face is pink and very youthful in person, and a completely different color.
While his armor looks very dark in the photo, it’s actually more silver. The shield is single color, and does not have those blue lines. In fact, I’d guess the marketing image was hand painted because not all of that is lighting. As you’ll see from the photos of my actual figure versus that of the marketing image, it isn’t very accurate. Reflecting the price, this can technically be a toy for a child, but it’s really aimed at collectors who are older children through adult fans. (Yes, I know, I’m going to be dragged off to Collector Hell for taking him out of the package, but I do things like that.) His armor and shield are highly detailed, and this is not a figure you trot down to your local Wal-Mart and pluck off the shelf in the toy aisle. I didn’t find him too stiff to pose, either, and have mine in a sword down / shield up posture as if he’s ready for action. The only complaint I have is his face, but I’ll get to that later.Īlthough there have been complaints on the internet about pieces falling off, my Loghain (and the other three) have kept all their parts where they belonged. There’s a precise attention to detail in all of his armor, all the way down to textured the chain mail. He’s accurate all the way to the giant pauldrons shown the game. The detail is extremely high quality and he has the braids on either sides of his head, an ornate shield, sword, and rust shading his armor. That said, you know I’m not a squealing Loghain fan who is biased about this figure. If it’s between a half crazed patriot who started out as a great guy in the novels and ended between he and Alistair… Sorry Loghain fans, but Alistair wins out in my land, even if Loghain isn’t that horrible when you recruit him. I let him live once because I wanted to complete the game. Sometime Alistair cuts off his head, sometimes the Warden does it. In my 24 complete games of Dragon Age, Loghain was allowed to live once. First, let me start off by saying this review is completely objective.
